How I Found It

With my parents this weekend. We have a long-lived tradition of weekend movies. Luckily this time all of us are together (except my lil bro on vacation). I like the idea of relationship movies. Dressed up formally. I love it. Cocktail 2 it is.

A Glimpse

The movie starts with Shahid Kapoor (forgot the character name. Diya and Ally are much easier to remember) a.k.a (googled it) Kunal - a chef, showing his aura . Selling street golgappas as an exquisite dish, by arranging them on wine glasses. His looks and spicy lines add up as starters. Thats all the spoilers you get.

Overall, the story theme is romantic relationships. How long-term couples can have doubts before marriage. The scenarios created are not amongst the ones I have heard in real life. Nevertheless, the actors portrayed emotions brilliantly. They did justice to their roles. Maybe Kunal could be more vocal to the things he was subjected to.

Songs are forgettable, except The Mashuka tune which plays at Ally’s scenes. I could revisit the DLF Gurgaon high-rise glassy buildings. Sicily scenes are beautiful. I will watch Cocktail 1 soon.

Interpretation

There were many moments in this movie where I felt - “Oh, this character is right about the situation. They are doing the most accurate and noble thing one would do.” The complexity of social situations do not, and cannot move forward with “all accurate ideologies”.

What will thrive is that you should know what is right for you, and why is it so. And put forward. If people accept it, nice, you stay on same page. Acceptance could be with minor adjustments. It should be clear. Else, you move on. Live and let live. Life is short. Be happy in everyone’s happiness.
